1901: Settler

Settler
Spring is coming later this year (13F this morning... 22F at noon). As such, we've delayed the removal of our holiday greens display in order to accommodate this Cardinal. Every evening since mid-December he arrives at about dusk, then snuggles up to a glowing light to keep warm. Our chill is beginning to break, so his free rent days are about to end. He will be missed... ('til next year).

UPDATE (03-24-2014): It's getting to be THAT time of the year. For the first time this year, tonight, he is joined by his mate. He gave up his normal spot to her and he has relocated to less cozy place in the greenery. She's probably wondering where he's been all her life and especially when we had -20F nights in January. Clever critters!
