Ann Arbor's Main Street streetscape (1964-5) was initiated by the Elizabeth R. Dean Trust Fund and designed by Bill Johnson of Johnson, Johnson & Roy, landscape architects. The four block renovation, completed at a cost of about $250,000, served as the inspiration for subsequent downtown urban design projects throughout the world.
